As luck would have it, I've stumbeld across this extensive firewall review website yesterday: http://www.matousec.com/ There you can read all the indepth details about why you should use a firewall and what, how and why it should do what most FW's don't. In their current test analyses they conclude ...

Whoa, maybe I'm paranoid, maybe some in here are credulous (probably both ;)). Seriously, Windows timberwall? That thing's only good for holding up the worst till a real FW is up and running, e.g. when one reinstalls Windows. A router is a good defence - until the attack or abuse comes from your own...

The Sygate Personal Firewall is pretty outdated and since Symantec bought it, there's not gonna be any free updates any longer. I've switched over to the Comodo Firewall which is also free (from $, spy-, ad-, mal-ware) but gets updates and support too. Besides, even when compared to non-free FW's, t...

I'd say there's no real bottleneck in Andi's config. The system should be pretty well balanced. Upgrading the cpu will make the gpu the bottleneck and for a better gpu, the cpu would be the bottleneck.

True, didn't think about that. I'm running an SB Live and an Audigy2 together - which is luckily the same driver (finally something Creative did right  ).

I'd say no. Games require you to tell em which sound hardware to use and TS does so too. So unless the XFi features 2 audio processors I doubt that's possible. If you want to do the 5.1+HS (which I do recommend, been using such a setup for years), just get a cheap, additional soundcard for TS (serio...

Uh, not sure I understood that right (some bios setting I guess?) but you either have or don't have a 64bit cpu. So if you do have one and your pc is running, you or rather "it" is using that 64bit cpu - with all the ups (and downs) that come with that.

Never ever used any Logitech mouse drivers or software till this one (SetPoint). Unlike previous soft that caused game incompatibilities and offered not much else, this one seems truly good to me. For instance, it allows you to use each and every button on the mouse for the games by assigning a keys...

Don't have a G7 but got me a MX518 the other day (needed that 2nd thumb button that no other logitech high-dpi mouse has ... for what silly reasons ever). But as these mices all use the same software: Did you set the driver/mouse software to recognize all your games (read: did you manually add the g...

Very nice mod. Been playing it all afternoon and enjoyed it a lot. Incl. some very nice maps - of which some reminded me of ye olde Operation Flashpoint. :)

Just found out this night that the issues might be more with many servers than with my rig. Dunno why but I get disconnects over and over on like 8 of 10 servers. Very funny to watch a map load for ages and then *pop* "your conn's gone fishin". But I just played on some french server and i...

That fake gribble probably already registered his royal fakeness.

I reserved my nick just in case I'd decide to try 2142. Tbh. I'm MUCH more looking forward to ET:QW.
