Have you tried playing on your 4G?

My home line have bin acting up all week and I'm thinking of playing on my 20/20mbit 4g phone.

20Mb/s down, 3Mb/s or so up. Crappy rural cable modem isn't so bad after all I guess.

damn 4g is pretty insanely fast. Makes me wonder why cable internet is slower for some people? o.O
Check the units, it's kbps (kilobit per second)

Its a bug within the app. One more screenshot just for you:

The second result is 3G.

Cair - I haven't. I assume you mean to use phone's modem to play PC games?

I won't call the connection via mobile networks stable. I am not sure if you would be able to play Battlefield with a stable ping. (I prefer wired connections).

BTW Checked Wikipedia, indeed max theoretical speeds of 100Mbit/sec on LTE (4G). For comparison, your average WiFi modem has a maximum theoretical speed of about 300Mbit/sec (some expensive ones can reach over the 1Gbit/sec, but that is also the maximum speed of LTE Advanced).

I ended up playing with my phone as 4g modem on the na server.
It worked okay a bit more lag over all but not the massive lag spikes currently on my connection.
Only used about 175mb, so it is fecably to play on 4g with my 1gb limit.

Do you need any additional hardware to connect your phone to a PC to use it as a modem? Or just software?

19,5Mbit down
1,1Mbit up

Paying 35€/month

Getting fiber in one year, then it's gonna be 35€ for 100/100Mbit.

it is called wifi or usb tethering, the phone must support it.

This, I have the newish HTC one and just plugged in the usb and (i think) installed their driver/sync package.

I got about 20ms worse ping on 4g, compered to my fiber connection.
I'll take that any day over my current situation, my 10/10 connection is dropping to 0.05mbit every couple of minutes, casing massive lag spikes.

From what I recall 3G is actually better for gaming, as it has less latency.
And less bandwidth but that don't really matter as most games don't need much.

It depends on the jitter. (http://www.pingtest.net)
