Techpowerup benchmarkings

TL;DR: pre-Mantle release, you're basically getting 10-15% better performance than the Titan at about half the price. after Mantle release, it's up in the air.

This card is receiving universal praise for its bang/buck, but reviewers admit that with no non-reference cards available just yet, the better overall package might still be the GTX780.

From a performance/power/noise standpoint, R9-290X:GTX780::GTX480:HD5870
But from a cost perspective, R9-290X:GTX780::HD7970:GTX680

I can't wait to see how Mantle, mature drivers, and 3rd-party cards will factor into the equation.

I was giving an analogy for the current-gen match-up compared to ones in the past. The GTX480 came out nearly half a year after the HD5870. It was a more powerful card, but the 5870 won on nearly all other fronts. It was quieter, consumed less power, had better overclocking headroom, and was even cheaper than the 480.
