I'm probably a little late to this conversation, but my $.02.

You didn't state your budget but for around $100 I'd go with the Grado SR80. Probably the best sounding headphone in that price range (though personal taste plays a factor) and only 32 ohm so it'll run fine on an iPad.

The drawback to this model is it is open backed so others around her will be able to hear what she's listening to, though it will be quite soft to others.

If you want to block outside noise and keep the sound to her alone then go with a sealed headphone. AKG, Koss, Beyerdynamic and Shure all make good sealed cans. I'd probably go with this one from Shure. I haven't personally listened to it, but it is ranked among the best sounding headphones for under $100.
