Haha cheers :) I watched about an hour of tutorials on cosplay last week, then I spent about 4 hours in the morning going through trailers and concept art to see how this thing is meant to look and what designs go where, then I spent half an hour playing with scrap pieces of foam to see how it bends with the hot air gun.

Doing the detailing is the real killer here.. On the one hand I'm loving the build, but on the other I'm cursing myself for my attention to detail

Nope, this is my first time doing cosplay. And using foam flooring to make stuff. Never done something like this before, I once made a lamp that tazered the person who turned it on.. But that was an accident back in woodwork class a few years ago!

Also the detailing is starting to take shape

The paint is on, it turned out quite well! It's too clean though so I'm going to go over it with watered down black acrylic paint to give it some wear/dirtier appearance

I got more of the base coat done today, I'm mainly being limited by high winds and rain :/ hard to paint when the spray is mostly going straight back into your face! Anyway the base coat is down for the chest and shoulders and it looks pretty metal. Next I'm going to dirty it up with some watered down black and brown. Also I ordered a mannequin head that should arrive either tomorrow or the next day so I can get started with the helmet!

Heya guys, I just thought I'd make this update so that you all know what my situation is and why I started this project.

I've been living with undiagnosed depression for the last 4 years, it's become quite substantial since joining university. I've had problems with sleep, eating disorders and (quite obviously) problems with my mood. I started this project because it's something I've always really wanted to do, and because my doctor advised me to do try some sort of workshop or start some hobby that would get me leaving my house and keep my mind and hands active.

Since starting this project, I've really noticed an improvement in my state of mind and I've been leaving my house more, even if it is just to go to the garden shed.

Anyway I'm just posting this to let you know why I haven't been as active recently in GC, and also to say that mental health is an issue that affects all types of people. I never expected to be in this position, but I am seeking help and hope that anyone suffering from similar issues doesn't feel alone.

Lots of love, Tea x
