what shuttle miniPC to buy?
I currently own a shuttle SN95G5 which runs fine but is getting old. So what model should I get? It should be powerful and silent (which seems to be a problem with certain later shuttle models).
Money is only a secondary issue, so feel free to give your advice without looking at those profane $$$.

Let someone build a nice watercooled system for you when $ not matters...or build yourself
I always tell people: what do you want to do and how much money do want to spend? (assuming it doesn't cost them anything when i assemble it for them)
Next questions are: Should it be silent? Yes
Does it have to be small?
Should it be looking good (fem acceptance factor) ?

If you like small PCs then you should get this:

I personally have repaired a few shuttle pc's and I don't think they have enough room for periphials like dual video cards or an Audigy sound card.
They also seem to cut corners in other areas as well....like RAM capacity.
When you stack your hard drives and optical drives tight and without very good air flow around them......you wear them out awfully fast.
I have replaced 3 hard drives in shuttle pcs........as well as upgraded 2 normally acceptable CD burners because they just didn't last in the hot mini-console.
The idea of a portable pc that can be carried to a friend's house for lan parties is awesome.........it is the execution of said idea that is below par.
Dell as well as the other computer biggie's all make small footprint pc's at very good prices. Take a look at what they offer before you invest your bucks Sushi........you might find exactly what you want at half the cost.
Winter.
