I have washed several keyboards several times: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=127472&p=1

Best way to thoroughly clean it imo

Same keyboard as i used to have.

Don't fancy trying that with my current keyboard with it's backlit keys.

Why? Backlit keys are same as lit caps key. The only time I wouldn't recommend washing a keyboard in the dishwasher is when the keyboard has a screen. You could try washing an old keyboard. Worked every time for me.

Congratz Sup on the reflow. Reminds me, I have a laptop that needs this, Tho I"m going to disassemble it

My dad is a firm believer of washing anything. Just have to be patient and be 100% sure its dry before your plug it in.

I even watched once as he hosed out the insides of an old TV to clear dust buildup, cobwebs and dead insects. I was shaking my head because 1) TVs can be dangerous up to 6 months after being unplugged. 2) just seemed wrong.
He left it out in the hot sun for 2 days to dry (middle of summer). Plugged it in and it still worked.

With keyboards with LCD, you could get moisture trapped between the LCD and a protective layer. Just means you would have to disassemble.

Thanks guys.

I have disassembled an HP latpop but its still laying there unassembled, there are just so many screws. I recommend you mark all the screws, which go where as there are so many different shapes and sizes of screws that's hard to remember where they belong.

I've done many laptops disassembles. First few scared the crap out of me. Tons of screws and easily damaged. And usually half the battle is finding out how to crack open the case properly.

Its better to re-assemble same day just for memory freshness of what goes where and what cables were disconnected. I used to notate on paper where groupings of the same screws came from, but found it quicker to stack them in disassemble sequence groups into a muffin pan. Reassembly is reverse order.

muffin pan, nice idea. My sister often makes muffins, I should ask her to lend me one should I ever need to do laptop dis-assemblies again.

Seriously, that is a pretty cool little 'experiment' you did there, I'm impressed with the results (and that you had the guts to do it).

Also... since this is the internet... I love the cat pic!

Well it was either have the card for internet and movies or for everything including games as the card worked in Windows for everything but games and benchmark software. Crippled GFX isn't a GFX so I went all in.

[graphics card]issue (I think)

Post by .Sup »

I was able to play the first two rounds on Caspian and at the start of the third one I got blue screen and then artefacts.
I had the same artefacts with 8800GT and now with 9800GTX. I won't bake this one as it has stock cooler and once you take stock cooler down its hard to put it back up with the same adhesive thermal tape.
I am zipping two large files atm and CPU on 98% works fine. I'll run memtest tomorrow but I am pretty sure its the GPU, ram probably.

So I was looking at my GPU options and would prefer nVidia since I heard Radeons micro stutter. Not sure if this is still the case. I guess I would like the best option at around 200€. I was looking at this: http://www.enaa.com/oddelki/racunalnist ... ce_gtx_660#

And ehm, Micro-Stuttering occasionally doesn't happen on Single-Way running cards, only when you start Crossfiring/SLI'ing them you will get those problems more (Especially Crossfiring).

So have you any plans to get a SLI/Crossfire set-up? Than yes go for NVIDIA. And if your preference is Nvidia anyway.

Zotac's AMP! Edition are known for there loud noise (sometimes even more then the reference coolers).

I'd advice you to take a MSI(Twin Frozr) or an ASUS(Direct CU II). And you can choose, either the 660Ti or the 660. Of course the 660Ti is more expensive(around 300, but the asus is still 295) But it also has a better performance.

660's:
Asus: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814121660
MSI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814127699

660Ti's

MSI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814127696

*Like this(I don't know where you're from so I'm just going to pick some out of newegg). And now I see that you're from Slovenia and the Graphic cards are a little more expensive over there so, gtx 660 is the way to go*

Me personally am using an GTX 670 by Asus, and I really like it, it's really silent!

I hope this helped you out a bit. :)

EDIT:

What was your BSOD code? You can google that and you know what the "fatal" error was. ;)

Thanks for the info! I might order from DE as I want to get another SSD too and shipping is only 30€ so I could save some.
I Googled and this is pretty much the issue I have: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/ ... 04879.html

The question I have is is it worth getting the TI as I probably won't be able to play on Ultra as I have an old CPU and only 4gb of ram. I have my PC specs on BL: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/user/dotSup/

Well it's an old CPU, but I think it won't bottleneck the 660ti.. And Battlefield 3 doesn't use more then 4 gigs of ram.
So it's your choice, I'm not sure though since I can't find any benchmarks about your CPU.
But there is one that says that the Intel G860 is powerful enough to get with a GTX680, Ultra settings on 1080p. * 55 FPS *
and since the 660ti is not that powerful and your CPU should be better than the Pentium G860.
Maybe a Ti would not be bottlenecked by your CPU.

But if you want to get an SSD also, you get the 660 and it'll be a boost of your Gaming Experience in any way! :)

I will probably play on low anyway just now with more than 30fps/average and AA on. So I think 660 should do but if I get an SSD as well I might get the TI just in case I want some candy from time to time. It really depends from where I order, from DE it will take a week or so from SI only 2-3 days.
