put PC to sleep

Post by Hitman47 »

this started happening a couple of days ago. ( and of course I don't remember doing any changes that may cause it )

Usually when I put my PC in sleep mode, it turn off and whne I press a button or click the mouse it turns on. But now, I put it to sleep, don't do anything and it turns itself on. And it's not like a minute later, sometimes after 10 secs sometimes after 30 mins or after an hour.

Does anybody know maybe why this is happening?

Are you having something thats doing a update? I had this awhile back because of a virusscanner that turned my pc out off sleepmode because he was doing an update at night.

I had a similar issue, and solved it by forbidding pretty much every usb device to wake the pc up. I don't remember how exactly to do this, but just google it.

I never found out what device was causing it, i'm guessing it was my keyboard.

Mother-ship calling? :)

On a more serious note, this is kinda old but maybe this will help you find the culprit device: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/arc ... 58352.aspx

Power button.
I don't think that's the right way to do it at least on my laptop it reboots when I press the power on button to wake it from sleep mode.

Isnt there a BIOS option "Wake up on LAN?".

Maybe you should deactivate that....

This happened to me too.

I found this solution:

Start > Type in "power options"

On your "Power plan" select "Change plan settings" > Change advanced power settings

Sleep > Allow wake timers - change to disable.

DONE

tried that before, didn't work.

It seems to have fixed itself somehow, must've been something updating. I didn't do aynthing else yet but it seems to stay in sleep. Thx for the help anyways guys! :D
