Going to get a new headset, suggestions?

Post by Dragon2796 »

I've been planning to get a new headset to replace my Logitech H110-s, which are frankly bad. Thinking of getting a Razer Carcharias headset, anyone have experiences/other suggestions for a good headset?

Logitech g35 is pretty good got astro a40 myself wich is on the same level for best audio i think the best you can do is buy a good senheiser or something and then a standalone mic

I'm running with a pair of audio technical ad700 + a 5$ zalman (zm-mic1)clip-on mic. Sounds great, but then again I hardly consider myself an audiofile or anything like that :S

I use a Logitech G35 headset for gaming because I wanted surround sound. For making music I use Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones.

The only downsides to the G35 have been the occasional need to unplug-replug to get the on-headset volume scroll to work, seems to go to lunch after a while, and the shiny covering on the padded parts started peeling off leaving me with occasional bits of black vinyl in my hair. Now that I've managed to peel off most of the remaining vinyl that's no longer a problem, though they look a bit more ghetto.

I have a G930 which is basically the wireless version of the G35. You can get it for pretty much the same price if you're interested in wireless. The only problem I've encountered is that the default drivers are incredibly buggy, so I had to download the more comprehensive Logitech Gaming Software program.

I am extremely happy with this

Coolermaster Sirus Storm

5.1 surround sound with or without a good sound card. The volume control base is your sound card giving you the 5.1 surround sound. If you have a good sound card already you can opt not to use the volume control base and plug the headset into that instead.

I use Sennheiser HD202..they are pretty tough, since I tend to destroy my headphones but they are still working. The only problem is that they have a huge cord and although it has a clip, it doesn't really work that well.I used to press it with my chair until I strapped it on my desk's leg...which is kinda dummy.

I hadn't used a mic since the last time I played in GC, so today I ordered this zalman mic...lets see.

Steelseries Siberia V2 is a good balance between quality and price. It's a 2.0 headset that's used in pro LAN parties.

Oh yes.

I won a siberia v2 frost blue at Dreamhack summer this year and it's really good!

I'm having some trouble with my mic though, I think somethings wrong with it since you can hear alot of background noise.

Personally I think most gaming headsets sound pretty medicore. I've been using the same pair of sony mdr-v600s (which are the shittier version of the iconic sony mdr-v6s) for the last 7 years and recently got a pair of a40s and will stil use the sonys over them even though you can buy a decent pair of sony mdr-v6s for way less than the a40s. I think with a little breakin the a40s will prolly be good enough to use but I maybe I'm just being resistant to change.

I say spend the extra money and got something that's studio quality.
