Teamspeak overlay

Post by Sarantini »

Since I'm fairly new I thought about using the overlay to see who is talking but it isn't working for me atm.
At first the game wouldn't launch when I enabled but Ifxed that by changing the .ini file.
The game does launch now but I don't see any overlay at all. Even when I enable the "full" preset.

BF3 ini:

Code: Select all

[BF3.EXE]
overlay.display.titlebar.opacity=80
dll.retry_injection_after_seconds=10
dll.defer_injection=5000
overlay.display.fontcolor.talking=FF55FFFF
popup.initialization.fontsize=22
overlay.display.fontsize=18
dll.force_loading=true
default.ini

Code: Select all

[default]
videorecording.codec.params=
videorecording.codec.name=
x64.enable=false
popup.initialization.backgroundcolor=
d3d8.enable=true
d3d10.enable=true
opengl.enable=true
overlay.display.fontfile=arial.ttf
d3d9.enable=true
dll.force_loading=true
overlay.display.fontcolor.silent=FF82ACFC
overlay.display.fontcolor.talking=FFF0F010
dll.retry_injection_after_seconds=1
overlay.initialization.mode=full
mouse.poll=true
mouse.use_ingame_cursor=true
TS overlay settigns for bf3

Any help would be appreciated!

you need to make sure you have the origin overlay turned off. You can do so in the origin options

why wouldn't it launch? does it crash?
the game might crash if you enable it mid-game, but it rarely happens
this is what my TS overlay looks like, combined with the Afterburner overlay (or as they call it: On Screen Display)
Spoiler: show

btw, that "force loading" and doesn't do anything.
disable origin overlay, and try again, of it doesn't work, try again after rebooting the comp.
when you go in game, the TS logo should appear in the middle of the screen, and draw you the people on your channel in the x.y. coordinates you set.

I didn't have to do anything about the Origin overlay, I just activated it in TS3!
I will post the settings I have, but you have to assign a hotkey for it so you can edit the position in-game.

That should do it, if it works everyone in your squad should turn up yellow while talking and channel commander should be red.
You will also see who joins the server, what channel and what they type in the chat for the same channel as you are in.

When joining a server it would show joining server/ connecting, origin would launch and then it would stop. I googled it and adding dll.defer_injection=5000 solved it.

I had origin already disabled.
I will try the settigns posted here.
One thing i was wondering, what does the profile do? Should I just changethe default profile and not bother with the bf3 one?

changing the injection should fix it, because mine also set to 5 seconds, although i use it from day 1 so i don't remember if i had this problem or not.
im also starting my TS as administrator (just changed the shortcut properties -> compability -> run as administrator)

untick "show server messages" and "show channel messages". its annoying. server has more then 64 players on battledays and you really don't want all these messages that gives you zero information.
you don't need channel messages either, you see someone disappear from the overlay = he left the channel. you dont need additional text message to tell you that.

and yeah, assign a key to the overlay. hit the key in-game and it will turn into a moveable window (it also makes it easier to find, since you don't know where to look for it at first)

Regarding the TS overlay thingy I also had problems when I first activated it... it showed nothing... Then I started TS in admin mode (as Necro wrote) and voila, TS overlay works fine.

I would really hate it if that would be the issue but I'll try it.

Oh yeah that's true, had forgot about that!
At least ventrilo requires you to run it as an administrator to get it working properly, just noticed I had the checkbox for running teamspeak as administrator checked as well. ;)

Ok, so... Starting Tuesday or Wednesday this week I suddenly got stuck on "Joining game..." whenever I tried to join a server in BF3. After some hours of frustration I finally found out that the culprit is the TS Overlay. When it's activated, I can't join servers... I tried the variant of adding "dll.defer_injection=5000" and "dll.force_loading=true", with no result... Still can't join any server while TS Overlay is active.
Origin overlay is off... Origin/Battlelog/TS all run in admin mode.
I've heard some friends having the exact same issue.

Anybody have any ideas on this? I've gotten really used to TS Overlay and feel kinda blind now when it is not working :cry:

If you don't like the TS overlay, you can use Overwolf. It also has its own TS overlay. However, Overwolf is still in beta phase and bugs out sometimes when you want it to overlay in your game. But it does show you a window with which application is conflicting with the Overwolf overlay.

Here is the link: http://www.overwolf.com/

Give it a try.

Weird as the overly injects only when you go full screen, and the hooks shoudnt interfer.
Have you tried. Unchecking/checking the overlay? Reinstall the overlay?
try reinstalling the battlelog plugin as it launches the game, and using the Launching the game without starting origin file found on reddit
