I still have a Siberia v2 headset that I've been trying to give away for over a year now. I still don't understand why nobody has taken me up on the offer.

Personally, the only headsetsI would even begin to consider are the Sennheiser PC350/360, but those are over your budget.
+1 for the Audio-Technica AD700s + a separate mic

^^ This.
Basically any QPAD headphone will do. I have the QH-1339 and that headset is the best one I've ever had.

I sense Swedish mafia :D :D jk!

I have a theory that its always better to get a descent headphone rather to invest in these gaming headsets. Then add a mic (zalman or modmic will do the job). I use an ath-tad400 with a modmic. But as mentioned above if you plug that in your on-board soundcard, no matter how good a headphone you have, the quality won't be that awesome.

The AD700 are super praised not that much because of lack of bass, but because of the good soundstage which helps you in gaming. I can't say for personal experience but definitely something to look at.

Didn't say it's the primary reason and they seem to be pretty good gamer headphones with a big sound stage at a reasonable price. OTOH you can get other headphones that are described to be more precise (can't tell from personal comparison either). Especially open headphones that do not enclose the ear completely. But their frequencies are not balanced for games, but for music and voice. Low and high frequencies are slightly increased, mid tones are slightly reduced. Without adjustments they will loose hands down against the AD700. In comp gaming, you don't want increased low frequencies. AD700s are told to have the lack of bass build in. But with others you can have the soundstage and bass as little as you like for gaming.

But in the end it's a matter of taste. I will never have two Headphones of this quality here that I can test with BF extensively and compare them. If I'd own AD700s I'd probably use them for gaming after I compared them to my current ones. If I'd buy headphones for €150, that's what they roughly cost here, I'd buy Beyerdynamic DT-990 instead.

I'm talking to some RL friends. Getting some more input. One of them might also have something lightly used I can get for cheap. I'll let you all know what I get once it's all done.

Why don't you just pm me your address and I'll figure out what shipping would likely cost?
