[Solved]Weird screen distortion from AMD card

Post by Nix »

All I had to do was disable hardware acceleration in the Flash settings LOL.
I feel like an idiot

Anyway, thanks for helping me out guys

So I built my new computer, it's nothing impressive but it works way better then my old one.

Now I have this issue in which my primary monitor (I have two) starts to flicker and distort in gray horizontal lines.
Now this only happens after doing something GPU intensive (Like playing BF4) then watching a Youtube video or use any sort of Adobe Flash sumtinsumtin. I think Flash is the culprit, but I could be wrong.

My old system did the same thing, but it wasn't as bad as it is now.

-Some specs-
CPU: AMD FX 8320 8-Core
GPU: 2x XFX HD 7770
RAM: 6GB of some Kingston brand

Flash is a nasty piece of work, no wonder Apple hates it so much LOL

Update: I should provide more info. The title has been updated.

It seems to be a software issue, as only one monitor goes crazy like in the photo. If I were to un-plug it from the card, the second monitor will become the primary (Duh) and the crazy distortion effect is transferred to the said second monitor. Something to do with the inputs?

Looks like video memory issue on the video card to me. New build may have different air flow pronouncing the problem. Just a guess, but for the problem to follow from one machine to another and only under load says to me video card or video fan issues to me.

Did you bring your graphics cards over ?
It looks more like a monitor issue tbh

...Over from the old system? Yes, just one. The old one is being used as the secondary card for Crossfire.

I don't think it could be the monitor, I swapped monitors awhile back, did the same thing.

It runs pretty cool, I've turned the fans up higher. Still does the same thing.

Computers must really hate me lol

I'll try that, but it's not the best solution.

its just for troubleshooting to see if it a single card causing it
well if the current slave works correctly just switch master and slave

Was going to try that out too :)

If this is an XFX card issue, I'll send the new one back and buy a different brand? (Same GPU, of course.)

Driver issue?
Are you using HDMI connection by any chance?

Drivers updated, did a proper install of them.
I'm using a DVI input.

A single card still does the distortion thing.

Could it be an XFX card issue?

Again, this only happens when I try to play a Flash video (Like Youtube)
It will happen anytime, even if I let the card cool down for a few hours.
Restarting the system removes the distortion, that's why I think it's a software issue. Just don't know what it is...
