Instability since last patch

Post by Fields »

So yeah, since the last patch my game is wonderfully unstable and loves to crash every 15-20 minutes. I figured I'd give it another shot today and after a few attempted games, I'm at a loss.

Anyone have any similar experiences or ideas?

Drivers are all updated, game is updated, everything is good except for BF4.

AMD FX 8350
ATI Radeon HD 7000 series
8 GB DDR3 memory

Antivirus is off, firewall is off, almost all background processes are off.

What am I missing, you guys? :roll:

Yes. The general consensus is that this last patch has made the game even worse than it was.

Random crashes are more frequent than before, even for people that didn't really suffer from them, people getting stuck in the kill screen and having to restart the game, etc...

Frankly I don't think there's anything you can do but wait and hope the next patch makes it less crap(Surely we're beyond believing they'll actually "fix" this turd).

Edit: Almost forgot the deafening bursts of static that can happen at random. Had to take my headphones off during the last battleday so I wouldn't blow out my eardrums.

It must be magic. My game hasn't crashed in a while. Even with my crazy OC'd system, I've never seen it more stable.
Of course I do get these weird revive bugs in which I can't redeploy out of :(

I now crash maybe 4-5 time during the BD, before the patch it was 1 time at most. So yeah, nice improvements... :roll:

I was getting some random glitch that suddenly made my game run at 5-15 FPS for short burst, which was only fixed by restarting the game. Not sure if it's just the Nvidia driver being crap or the game acting up.

test your hardware and clean components with air compressor

ram = memtest http://www.memtest.org/
disk = CrystalDiskInfo http://crystalmark.info/software/Crysta ... dex-e.html
temp = RealTemp http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/
frame drop = restart pc, ram is full

I've also had my share of crashes since latest patch, but I've done some things that made it stop. Can't really say that what I did will solve others problems, but since I haven't been crashing afterwards - it must've done something right. By the way, I run Windows 8.1, AMD FX9somethingCPU and AMD R9 290X.
Here's what I've done:
1. Download (just download, don't execute) the latest versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable - all year versions (2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, both x86 and x64 variants)
2. Deinstall all Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable in "Programs and Features"
3. Reboot computer
4. Install the downloaded Microsoft bla bla bla...
5. Reboot computer
6. Run DXSETUP (located in your BF4 install directory ...\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\__Installer\directx\redist\)
7. Reboot computer
8. Play

Maybe worth a shot?
I've also heard some people that have done something related to .NET, might be worth googling it and try if it seems feasible.

Thanks, everyone. The silly posts are just as good as the helpful ones. :lol:

I actually rebuilt my PC a few months ago, so I'm positive that the components are very clean and the OS has been completely re-installed on my new SSD. Like I said: Literally every game I play BESIDES BF4 works flawlessly. :(

@Zebra, I'll give that method a try this weekend. Thanks for the tip.

EDIT: Tried reinstalling those redists and no real change. I'm still open to suggestions. :(
