PATCH 1.02, Patch not performing

HMM i reformatted my computer today and everything actually has gotten alright.. it started off bad but its fine now but i installed bf 2 and updated pb and i even installed the 1.01 patch but it says i dont have the right one.. where can i get the right one.. I looked on the bf2 site and i got that one..:S.. im confused!!!

Patch level is 1.02

thanks but no thanks.. cuz i got that one and i install it and it still says i need a newer version.. UGH! this always happens to me!!!

Well, thats the newest one, if you installed that, and it still says you need a newer version, try updating your punkbuster, I guess, and you still never told me when you won the cookie!

Not to mention that is is actually called "The Cheesy" ... and can only be given by Cheesy.

If you didn't get given it by Cheesy, then you need to make a new award, and give it to yourself.

Stomper, You are almost there m8. I had the same problem. Thing is that that these stupid EA patches apparently do not run their patch routine as they should on all machines.

Resolutions:

I. There are reworked patchversions out there that overdrive the problem of the patch running doing nothing, search for one of these

or

II. Do the patch routine described for patch 1.01 to be found in this thread

Execute Patcher, Choose language, wait for welcome screen, don't hit continue.

go to your documents folder and to this location:

c:\documents\YOUR USERNAME\local settings\temp

and look for a folder which looks like {BLAH....} lots of numbers and chars. Go into that folder structure and copy the files in it (e.g. patch.exe, all the files) to a folder where you can execute them (e.g. create a dir named C:\temp)

then open a commandpromt (type "cmd" in run/execute at startmenu) and go to your new created folder with the patchdata. Execute the with the following line (edit to your installfolder location of course):

patch.exe "c:\FolderWhereBF 2Is"

Curious.

Machine manufacturer or motherboard and cpu.

Results of following up on Sushi25's link as it has multiple monkey wrenching.
