Fairplay Rules

Post by sushi »

The Golden Rule: treat others how you wish to be treated.

Uncapable Bases

Under certain circumstances, as outlined below, a rule against base camping comes into effect.

 The conditions: the rule against base camping will only apply when the following two conditions exist:
  1. The map must have an uncapable spawn point.
  2. No other flags are owned by the army that is being base camped.
If these conditions are not met then the uncapable spawn point is treated like any other flag and is subject to any and all forms of attack.

 The rule: once these two conditions apply then, and only then, will the following actions not be allowed:
  1. Planes and helicopters cannot bomb, rocket or strafe anything that is in the base.
  2. C4/grenades can not be used to blow up players while they are spawning in.
  3. Armor can not be driven into this uncapable spawn point and attack the players as they spawn in. This also applies to stolen armor.
  4. Artillery may not be used to shell the base.
  5. Small arms fire is not allowed to be directed at the base.
  6. Players from the opposing team inside the base must exit the base immediately.
You can draw an imaginary line between the closest flag and the UCB. You have to leave them alone on the side of the UCB.

The intention of the rule: this rule offers an army the opportunity to play with a fair chance of continuing the battle.

Air Power

 Pilots are not allowed to perform Kamikaze attacks.
  1. Kamikazing: this is defined as deliberately flying a plane or helicopter into another vehicle with the intention of disabling or destroying said vehicle. This is unsportsmanlike conduct.
  2. A crash is considered an accident. Don't crash too often or you might give up your seat for the day.
 Air cannot camp air. No guns, no bombs, and no rockets. If the plane or helicopter is empty or full you cannot attack it while you are in the air with a jet or helicopter.
  1. Aircraft on the ground can be attacked by ground units (infantry, tanks, etc.).
Intention of the rule: aircrafts should fight their battles in the air.

Joining the Game Server
  1. If you want to join after the battle has started, you need to ask for permission to join from your commanding officer (in TeamSpeak). Wait for his approval before joining, he needs to communicate with his HC.
  2. Officers need to ask their HC for permission for people to join in. Each HC is responsible for the number of players on their side.
+2 Rule

 The +2 Rule concerns the number of players allowed per side to keep the gameplay balanced in the instance that player numbers are not equal.
  1. A team will not be forced to drop below 12 players regardless of the other team’s numbers.
  2. Two consecutive rounds that a team starts below 10 on a given map will surrender the map to the attacking team.
If High Command does not manage the numbers within 2 minutes before live, Tournament Admins preserve the right to disconnect the amount of players to balance the live round.

Squad Manipulation

 Army dumping, squad leader cycling, and squad cycling is forbidden.

Definitions:
  1. Army Dumping: where an individual or squad leader allows a group of players to spawn on him/her with the intention of creating further squads to allow for further spawn points.
  2. Squad Leader Cycling: where a squad leader upon death relinquishes his squad leader position in order to allow another living squad member to take the position and allow for a renewed spawn point.
  3. Squad Cycling: where an individual switches to another squad with the singular intention of using another squads spawn point to further his immediate and desired goal.

When one of your SL is late for battle, he is allowed to cycle to his position. However, keep in mind that it may not benefit any strategic objectives.

All Chat

 Unless you're a TA, you should not use all chat, even if you're typing GGs after the game.

Pre-Live Rules
  1. Do not enter the enemy UCB (or starting flag on smaller maps). Your opponent needs to prepare too. You can warm up in other flags.
  2. Do not fire in your own UCB (or starting flag on smaller maps). Gun fire (or vehicles like jeeps, armor or aircraft) is disturbing communication between your High Command and Squad Leaders.
  3. Team killing is allowed in a designated area (by the Field Commander). That way you are sure you're only team killing the ones who like it, and don't disturb the officers in the strategy meeting.
  4. It is not allowed to deploy mines, claymores or C4 during pre-live rounds. This is to prevent accidental team kills.
Punishment

 If you break a rule or intention of the rule:
  1. First time: will be seen as an acident. You will be reminded of the rule.
  2. Second time: friendly kick by the Tournament Admin. You have been reminded once, we let you know that we are serious.
  3. Third time: you will get kicked, with a 2 minutes ban. In that time, we expect you to report to your High Command, where you have to explain why you don't understand the rules.
  4. Fourth time: High Command, TAs and the Executive Senate will discuss the options.
Complaints

 If you feel the need to argue any punishment or want to point a finger to an opponent that has not been punished, then you can send a private message to your High Command, they will take it up the chain to TAs or the Executive Senate. Do not post in public forums, these posts will be deleted at sight, so save your effort for a pm. Your complaint will be handled, and you will be heard.
