Thanks styph. I preordered via Origin. Do you think this should work with it?

Yea, it does. When you try and install the game it loads up origin and installs it through there. This is the zipped up version downloaded through origin.

Would it be a good idea to download this file although I don't have a beta key? The internet-connection in my little village is not that good and so I'd love to start downloading the beta files earlier to finish it right in time when the open beta starts.
Since I'm halfway through my exam I think I can spare some time for BF3...

I don't have the key yet either but I'm already downloading so once I get it I can start playing instantly.

That's what I did. I don't have a key but downloaded this so I didn't have issues when it goes public in 2 days.

Great, thanks for the link Styphon!
I still need at least 20h to download it, so for me it's not that light :(

I'm having trouble with the zipped file. Avira says that the BF3.exe file contains a trojan horse (TR/Patched.Gen)...
What can I do? :?

Ignore your antivirus; if you downloaded the version Styphon linked it's clean.

right I posted in the EA forums and tons of ppls confirmed it is (a known EA madness) not a trojan.

I had a rough time getting it work though. 1. Disable avira, 2. put origin.exe and bf3.exe on the avira exeption list 3. install game and battlelog 4. take a deepbreath and restart avira

(thats the work around, I took the hard approach that included a lot of cursing and finding the bf3.exe in the quarantaine folder of avira... )
