Cant say who is more right without spending alot of time testing first video's research or 2nd video's opinion. I tend to go with the first post that is more current and actually did research. Also disproved some of the 2nd video's "truth".

The best anyone can do is try out the lastest theories and see if they predict the results close enough.

Dice's BF series and heatseaking missiles have always had their own alternate universe that changed with almost every patch. Just hope they dont break them as bad as they did in BFV and BF2 half the time.

Heatseekers can see jets and helos thru any solid object (Show me a polygon that it loses lock).
Heatseekers wont acquire a new object if it loses lock. Fun days of hitting friendlies.
World Fire (cars, debris, etc) in BF3 has no heat signature.
Heatseekers can come the rear and kill a pilot leaving the vehicle intack.

Using ECM in a jet is a pray button for me.

Theres my guide.

Several ways to go about this, i guess ...

One could dive into the depths of tutorials, create a few models, effects, projectiles etc. ...
talk to people who have created content, have experience and learn that way ...
find out how these things really work, and what's going on behind the scenes ...

i guess that would be the intellectual approach ...
ooops, too much effort.

screw it ... here , have a vid :)

This whole debate will end for me with the next patch anyway. Once laserguided stuff gets distracted by flares, the ECM jammer is dead for me.

I think I will stay true to ECM - it's too important in a dogfight - getting off your enemy radar for a few moments might save your life :)
