Aftermath thoughts

Post by LCourage »

After 3-4 hours playing different maps on conquest and scavenger I'm loving this exp pack. I feel like the maps are very well put together. In fact they are probably the most dynamic and interesting maps I've ever seen in a FPS. There's debris, doors and terrain that can be destroyed to allow access to infantry and armor. There's random earthquakes during matches. The guns, xbow and new camo are cool but by far the maps are the best things about this exp pack. Scavenger mode is a lot of fun and feels like an improved version of gun master.

How's everyone else liking it so far?

Im liking the DLC, but im having HUGE problems with FPS drops, im loosing like 20 fps in Markaz Monolith, like 15 in Talah Market, and need to try the others....

The patch broke my game entirely and I had to re-instal the entire game. Yayyy

After playing for 5 minutes, I'm very impressed with the map designs and very upset with being auto balanced in the last minute of a 500 ticket lead game. Boooo

EDIT: also, I've figured out the secret.

Also, comcast is living up to their reputation as horrible horribles of bad internet and I keep getting DCed. I guess I'll only experience those 5 minutes for tonight.

maps look cool at first sight, although a little small.
need to play more then 3 rounds to have a solid opinion.

scavenger
since you can't heal, and most importantly can't be revived, combined with the low ammunition makes it a lot more tactical then other mods. however this is also the downside - the fact you can't revive/be revived almost completely destroys team play, at least on public servers.

I bet 95% of battlefield players' complaints revolve around colors.

I got a chance to play this at my brother's place for around 30 minutes.

Awesome infantry maps, the new vehicles are effective, but also dangerous, which forces you to always move if you don't want to get a bolt in your head. With the previous vehicles like the Humvee and Vodnik, you could just park somewhere and be safe from bullets.

The only complaint I have so far is the ceiling for scout-choppers on you know that map. It's extremely low. :(

this pack enhances the problems with vehicle physics since it has a lot of rubble and holes in the ground, thus less flat surface. and when the vehicle is not on a flat surface, it has problems. either it gets stuck in shallow holes, or slides down for no reason etc..
and that's without mentioning its going to be a lot harder on the vehicles because of the broken urban area that gives soldiers a lot of hiding places.

i do like that you can drive the vehicles inside the big buildings though (like the palace)

ceiling for choppers is very very low. allows no maneuverability. the scout choppers are always dog fighting with each other (you have nowhere else to go), and if you hover high - you get Stingered, if you hover too low, well, everything from tanks to jeeps rape you.
actually they rape you even if youre at the top allowed altitude so... your victory over enemy scout chopper is short lived.
