A PM should be sent regarding this or at least a post within the forum. I am not sure how many people actually check the front page

Bump. The Campaign starting and officer signups should be mass PM'd and stickied. Front Page is useless if you just have the boards bookmarked as most do..

Just a +1 on not using frontpage.

strange, I've never bookmarked a forum directly and always enter sites though their front page (not just GC)

Same, I watch Active Topics (which unfortunately excludes some boards) and never visit the front page.

The front page posts show in the "view unread posts" list. They probably show in the "view new posts" too.

Most communities I know have "recent replies" block on the main page, this way people check the front page for any news in the forums too. Since GC doesn't have something like that I too use direct link to new posts a lot.
