Map Choice System Idea In Place Of Risk

Post by MONGO_abaday »

This is just a concept for what we could do in place of the current risk system

My original idea of how maps are chosen is quite basic:
-Pretty much there is a map pool of every possible/chosen map that have been selected before the campaign has begun

-Each map is assigned a number from 1 to however many maps there are

-A random number generator is used to pick 6 maps each week

-There could be 3 of them that are hidden from the armies. Or we could say 1 map each of the 3 that are hidden will be issued to each side. So only one side knows what they have but the other side does not and visa versa. (hope that makes sense). Then the final map left over from the 3 "hidden maps" is kept fully secret from both armies until right before it is due to be played.

-Once a map has been played it is removed from the map pool until it runs drys (if it does) and it is then refilled. (this will pretty much eliminate maps being played over and over again)

-Finally I would say there are two options for the order in which the maps will be played:
Option1. The 3 revealed are played 1st, followed by the map "Army 1" knows, then the map "Army 2" knows and last of all the hidden map neither army knows is played last (this could then be done in the opposite order every other week)
Option2. "Army 1" known map, then "Army 2" known map, followed by the 3 revealed maps and then finally the completely unknown map

I haven't really thought about or devised a point system for it yet but I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to figure one out. You could almost have a campaign run until the map pool runs out and the team with the most wins, wins. If an army starts dropping behind drastically there is also the option to surrender if they feel its not worth their time.

Any suggestions or constructive criticism to this idea are more than welcome. Just one of my ideas on what we could do that is all :)

ya missing a few details like
- how many rounds are played per map?
- do sides swap after every round?
- how is the starting side determined?
- how is the map winner determined? ticket count?

Like I said this idea was quite basic and I am open to any suggestions.

-rounds per map would be best of 3
-personally I think it would be fairer if sides did swap after every round
-starting side could be chosen by a coin flip or some other randomisation choice option
-Well map winner would be whoever wins the 2 out of the 3 rounds.
