Saw it pop up on Youtube just now as well! Apparently it'll also be free!

Edit: Just watched Jackfrags's video on it and it all sounds pretty great, it's not totally free but the base toolset is, lots of options and control over the server as well.

Well this is good news albeit a little late. I will absolutely buy the game if GC gets behind this and we can run a campaign. Been entirely too long since we had a good battle day!

I think we should seriously consider trying to jump on this. I'd personally be inclined to start planning a campaign once a release date for this is set by EA so we can start a campaign within a week or two of this going live (ideally the first weekend if we think the servers won't all fall over). We might beat other communities to the punch and be able to draw in fresh blood who may otherwise play somewhere else.

Or EA shaft us again and this ends up a late April fools.

If there's enough traction when this comes around to have a populated campaign, I'd be inclined to actually buy the game in the first place.

We have gotten the shaft from them before. In the interim what BF series is available for dedicated server? I have been enjoying BF1942 single player.

The servers you create will be located at the closet ping site to you and will be placed within our own server infrastructure.

you can play BF1942 online too. there's guides how to. I've been playing BFVietnam (2004) lately.
