landot AAS (Advance and Secure) 1.6 server side mod

Post by gribble »

There is another Supply Lines or Push Maps mod called landot AAS, read more about it and download it here -> http://landot.org:8080/landot/aas/

The inspiration behind the landot AAS mod is the AAS (Advance and Secure) gameplay mode in another popular FPS game. What it basically means is that flags can only be taken in a certain predefined order, in other words at any given time you can only be attacking one flag and defending one. People have also referred to this mod as being a Supply Lines or Push Maps mod, but I call it AAS.

The mod is implemented only on the server side in gpm_cq.py, so players don't need to download anything. It also works with PB enabled. You can try this mod at our landot BF2 server or find another AAS server. Look for "AAS" in the server name (some servers just have the string "aas" by coincidence, like "mohaaserver").

During play the mod will try to keep players informed on where they should currently be heading and warn them if they are trying to capture a wrong flag. The mod will give orders to players on the upper left corner of the screen, so keep an eye on that. The order to take the flags is whatever seems logical for that particular map, just think where would you go next if it was for real.

Features

* Flags must be captured in a certain pre-defined order. No more of that running around the outskirts of the map to capture the last base when the real fighting is happening at the first one. Now the fights will really become the massive battles that they should be, instead of troops spread across the map.
* Automatic resizing of CP areas according to maximum players on server. The default sized CPs can get a bit crowded when there are 64 players charging into one. Resizing can also be disabled, it is enabled by default.
* An option to balance the number of flags owned by each team at the start of a round, so that the battle will always start in the middle of the map. This option can of course be disabled if wanted. The default is enabled.
* Possilibity to disable the Commander easily. Commander can be too powerful for AAS and the need for a Commander coordinating attacks is not as important, since there is only one way to advance. The Commander is disabled by default.
* Localization of AAS messages in English, French and German. Default is English.

you have my vote for this mod, even if its only for battledays. This will keep a fair and balanced battle day, and no more of this running around crap.

the "Battlefield 2 News" part of the forum is for BF2 related news, that wasn't a suggestion for the campaign. If someone thinks any of the things posted here are worth considerd for the campaign go ahead and make a post in the appropriate section :-)
