The turbulent times of the chinese empire

Post by a432 »

So my Civ game got interesting real quick. The Aztecs declared war on my the turn after I took my previous screenshot of my lovely empire.

Here is their invasion force:

As you can see there surprise attack hurts my spearman quiet badly. But they took heavy looses attacking over the river. Their catapults are looming in the distance setting up an attack.

My counter attacks

My swift counter attack with arrows raining down on their jaguar warriors were devastating. Without any cover and minimal armor hundreds fell to my "black rain" as they called it.

Finally Peace

10 turns passed between this screenshot and the last. Many lives were lost and battles were brutal. Attacks and counter attacks along the river left it with the nickname "red run river". However peace was made with the Aztecs. Knowing they were beaten they offered a nice peace settlement of 400 gold and their luxury resources. Being a wise ruler I promptly accepted.

Whats this?!

The same turn I made peace with the Aztecs I look to my northern boards only to find a hoard of swedes on the march! That scout hiding so well in the forest earned him self a huge medal that day. Time to reposition my tired forces for yet more war! To ARMS!!!

So luckily I researched composite bowmen just in time for the northern war with Sweden. My battle harden archer veterans of the Aztecan war were pleased with their new equipment. Stronger bows, longer range, and more accurate arrows meant that my forces would have quite the edge in this coming battle. The swedes took their time positioning their forces as well which gave me time to relocated troops and supplies from the south to the north. One thing bothered me was their great general. From the swedes early conquest of the city state of Colombo a great general rose from their ranks. The stories of his achievements and cruelty have reached far and wide and my men knew of him. I knew this war would be much worse and I readied myself and my men for action.

The Calm before the Storm:

We wouldn't have to wait to long....

To war!

The first strike!

http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/957 ... 9B55C2D2E/

The first blow was devastating. My spearman on the front line were almost totally wiped out. It is sad to say but they would not make it home to their families. However they did their duty and because of their sacrifice others lived. Their deaths would not be in vain however. The fall of the 45th spearman division would become a rallying cry threw out my empire. Their iron nerves in the face of overwhelming odds inspired my people and my army for generations to come.

Counter-attack!

The foolish swedes pushed to deep in my territory without supply lines. They were powerless as my arrows rained down upon them killing countless warriors from afar. Plus my fresh new recruits just finished their spearman training in shanghai giving some badly needed fresh front line troops.

The tides begin to turn

Having defeated there western flank I was able to concentrate on stopping their push on my capital.

This is our battle brothers!

At this point their forces were devastated. They realized they had lost at attempted to retreat.... key word... attempted...

LET NONE ESCAPE!

Remember the 45th! REMEMBER!! Take no prisoners! Let none survive!

Peace

My troops won. They came up against impossible numbers and won. Sweden knew this too, he lost many troops and his famous great general. Realizing this he offered a large peace offering which I accepted. Finally it looks like peace will be in our empires future.

To the future

So the question is... now what? I have lots of money to spend or save. Lots of happiness from the luxury items I won from the wars. A small but battle tested veteran army. Both of my neighbors are recovering from devastating losses. Things seem good for china now.
