Sylvari Elementalist main, Asura Engineer and Human Mesmer or Thief alts.

Will likely be playing on Tarnished Coast Server, however the guesting feature should allow anyone to play on any server as long as they don't participate in WvWvW.

Launch for pre-release is 9-12pm PST Friday, is anyone else going to be there?

I'm gonna try to be. may not be able to though as I start college next week and depending on which of my friends move back up early I may be too drunk to do anything 8)

going far shiverpeaks, because thats where all my ex pvp buddies are going. I used to be top 100 gvg in gw1. I loved that game, played it for like 5 years. Ended up on [Ban] playing byob in champ range, ending on champ 5 or 6, dont remember.

Some friends of mine are going to play on Yak's Bend, so I was planning on playing there. Unfortunately, it looks like Yak's Bend is full up right now. Anyone know if they're clearing servers before pre-launch?

Try to find a keystore or something. Makes the game cheaper...

I have pre-ordered the normal edition of GW2. I have not played GW1, so everything is completely new to me. I will probably get my copy on the 28th (maybe the 27th).

played in the stress test today for about a half hour after I was done playing with the character creator for a half hour.

Well it looks like guesting won't be available on launch, rather temporarily free server transfers to let server populations balance out, so we can't realistically play together for a while since we're all going to be on different servers. :(

On the bright side I played in the stress test today, and performance is above and beyond what I would expect for such a good looking game. On my machine that gives me ~60 fps @ low settings 720p, I'm getting about the same framerate at the auto-detected mediumish-low settings (though it still looks really nice) at 1080p. Character generation is as snazzy and detailed as ever, and the half hour I played today on my thief (mostly SPvP with a dash of questing) was a lot of fun. Can't wait for this game... only 1 more day to go.

If you are at all interested in the story/lore/roleplaying aspect of games (or even if you're not) I've been watching and highly recommend checking out WoodenPotatoes' videos explaining the history and lore of Tyria, the land in which Guild Wars 2 takes place. This is especially helpful if like me you've never played Guild Wars 1.
