GCmod 218 meg Un-Zip this and put it in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942\Mods folder

Run these and install them to a temporary directory on your hard drive then move the files to your battlefield 1942 sub directory

Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Archives\bf1942\levels folder You will see all the other default maps there like Aberdeen.rfa

Too bad i have only battlefield 2 and battlefield 3..wanted to much to get the bc2 and bc1 but... i was watching only vids of players playing it

I got the 1942 server back up and running today (saturday 11-17-12) the information is on the first page of this topic. Can someone that has downloaded the free version just released by origin see if they can connect to this server (it is the most updated retail version from 8 years ago)

if it works then everything should be set for a 1942 fun day this weekend during the bye week because of the hollidays. If it does not work, then perhaps the powers that be can set up clanforge to run the server.

you can search for the server in the game server brouser using the word 'global'
for global-conflict.org, it should show up.

DICE has stated that the free version is not connected to the original retail version. So only free 1942 players can play each other and vice versa. With that being said I recommend we all switch to the free version. That way anyone interested in trying it out can play for free. It's easy to get on origin and download the game.

Hmm I actually activated the free version with my old 42 key in Origin. Not sure what that means but activation was sucesful and linked to my EA master email.

Ok, the new free version can not connect to the server tubsteak and I set up (retail version) but I did some testing and all the maps and mods work with this new free version. I'll talk to Tubesteak and see if we can figure it out. Then maybe we can actually play the GC mod or even battlegroup 42

Here is a link to the GC mod and Merciless creations mod plus a few choice maps made by the GC community back in the day plus khaos go cart racing wich would be very fun for a GC fun day.

it is 1.1gig so keep that in mind.

Install the free version of BF1942 which you can download for free from the origin Demo tab when you fire up origin. After installing it, download this link and un-zip it somewhere then move the contents to your C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942 directory

Once done, in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942 directory you will find two files, Merciless enable - Disabler.exe and Merciless Crosshair selecter

Use these to enable / disable Merciless textures and sounds (these make the game much cooler) and the crosshair selecter to give you cooler crosshairs. when you run the Merciless enable - disable.exe just select enable, leave RTR and SW unchecked. (these were for the Road to Rome and Secret Weapons Addons) then close it. Since there is no such thing as a 'pure' server any more it should work on all servers.

Hopefully we will have our own server up in a day or two.
