Then stay away. They are nicer than in LoL, but they won't be happy about beginners. =)
Although you can practice against bots! They are quite smart in this game.

Its always going to happen when you play with randoms in games like these, because one person playing "badly" directly affects the other 4 players enjoyment of the game. Whereas in bf3, one person playing badly (generally) goes unnoticed by the other 31 players.
Nevertheless I highly recommend the game, and most people are really nice and will help teach you as long as you aren't a douche. On top of that, I frequently play or 4 friends, at which point the one random flaming everyone isnt such a big deal. You're more than welcome to come play with us ^^

The skill ceiling is much higher in dota then lol because it's more positioning then anything and takes more time to learn. That, and there's lots of stupid little quirks about the game emulating WC3's engine which aren't explicit at all. You'd never know to block creep waves to gain an advantage in lane if someone didn't tell you, or how to stack neutral creeps or how to pull neutral creeps to kill your minnion wave. It's kind of stupid, actually. People will still rage at you, just as they do in any game.
