Star Wars Galaxies Emulator

Post by cancel_man »

The game is very dated but the Emulator is well supported and in active development. Free MMO with an active community.

Now that LucasArts has become Disney and SOE has become Daybreak, the original game is truly abandonware so (despite what the SWGEmu website says) you can download the game for free:

Star Wars Galaxies was one of the first PC games I ever bought.

Unfortunately I was like 9 at the time, and did not realise that after buying the game a subscription was required.

I remember registering, putting in fake credit card information, hitting submit and then immediately panicking. I thought the FBI was going to track me down, so I immediately quit and uninstalled the game and disconnected the internet, and I had problems sleeping for weeks. And it caused a wee bit of a hassle when I went to register for Planetside 2 and found my username was taken, and got to explain the situation to a very friendly rep and got it released.

I read the manual so much that it fell apart.

The FBI never did track me down.

yup, Basilisk. I'm on TS just about every night, may not be playing it but will have no issues helping you get started. can even throw some gear your way which will help alot.

@ rellik, ya I've looked into it a little, they even say in one of the videos that they based it off SWG. I'm giving it a few months to see if they have stuff nailed down enough to make it worth buying. So once you you do play please post a review.

Heh, I even have the original discs. I installed it this morning, though looks like the server is down atm. Regardless, I'll be playing every so often.

I'm assuming you followed the instructions to install the EMU client (SWGEmuLaunchpad.exe) and you're not running the vanilla SWG client? The Original SWG servers have been down a while and aint coming back

I see Basilisk has only been up 8 hours; it may have been down for some reason.
