Most of them just buy a better graphics card, mostly cause either the card they have are not available anymore or that there is so little price difference to get a new better standalone card.
So with that Im saying, if you want CF with your current card you better buy it about now, in 6 months it may be out of stock.
Overclocking your cpu wont reduce the lifetime of it, those three years Jokerle are talking about is something Ive never heard about, I've been overclocking CPUs since 1997 and no one became any slower or broke down, except one that actually was burnt to a crisp but that was my own fault!
If you know what you're doing there's no danger at all. But you will lose your warranty even if you do it once then put it back to normal clocks (they can read that out somehow). But if you watch the Voltages and Temperatures (and know there max'es)
It "SHOULD BE" completely save

No they can't.
They *might* be able to tell if you melt it by applying way too much voltage, but other than that there's no way for them to know.
I thought they could, or is that only with GPU's? because a friend of mine, overclocked it a bit but after that put it back to normal clocks, months later it broke (Much artifacts). They said it was because of the overclock(even though it was after that). And that there was no warranty anymore.

soo, it's not like that for CPU's?
Unless he overclocked the GPU by editing the BIOS, no, there's no way they could have known. They were just guessing
If there's no point going for a crossfire option, is there any reason to buy a decent motherboard? If I simply bought the cheapest one possible would there be a problem. Sure it would mean I couldn't OC the processor but that's not the end of the world...

Hopefully I'll be able to do some light overclocking with this. Got the more powerful PSU to cope with any future GPU upgrades which would be in the form of single card upgrades - not crossfire.

Nope not a big difference, the price difference on motherboards is generally how much options you have.

Well what I could find on that motherboard and overclocking, you won't have any problem, it seems to be quite good for overclocking. http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1998/
