honestly that ship looks like a piece of ****, of all the motherships in the game that is the worst and why on earth he flew it out is a mystery in itself.

erm, not an EVE player, whats the point of having a ship if you don't fly it out?

You do fly it out, however you must listen to orders from an FC and apply simple logic, if an enemy fleet is roaming around you don't fly the most stupid expensive ship ever.

For those of you who don’t follow EVE, ISK is easily convertible to real money due to CCP’s use of Plex
Well DUH?
This is the weirdest game. To me even managing to go through a tutorial video without falling asleep is a great achievement. Props to those who play it

The ship is simply a collectors piece in comparison to the regular motherships. It's rare mostly because it's terrible in comparison so noone bothers trying to get the blueprints for it, thus it stays rare and expensive.

Re: [EVE Online] Player loses ship worth $8,000.
You can't buy it, you have to build it.
First the blue print is a rare drop on the final site of an incursion. The final site of an incursion requires a fleet of at least 50-250 people, it is essentially taking down an NPC version of the ship. Even then the its still a chance to get that blue print let alone reach the wreck before somebody steals the loot.
Next you need to build this blue print, since its a mothership it requires sovereignty i think ,so it must be built in player owned spaced e.g. null sec. For that you will probably need a player owned outposts as well to manufacture the ship. Once constructed its one of the few ships that can't dock and can never enter high sec.
Thus its extremely hard to build one and as such is extremely rare.

Re: [EVE Online] Player loses ship worth $8,000.
Correct, Supercapital ships do require sovereignty to produce since you need a POS(Player Owned Starbase) with a CSAA(Capital Ship Assembly Array) to construct. The latter requires strategic sovereignty upgrades to even be built in a system.
Add to that the random nature of Incursions like Rob mentioned and the fact that they spawn randomly across the universe and that they have to be low/nullsec incursions to spawn the mothership that has a chance of dropping the blueprint puts you in big danger of getting hotdropped by any other entity while trying to PvE.
Also requires many trips worth of materials on a jump freighter to build, which adds more logistical matters that need to be handled.
All in all there's literally zero reason to use have one other than the vanity in it. It's not stronger in any useful way compared to the standard 4 supercarriers, while the rarity of it makes more than 10 times the cost and difficulty in acquisition.
