Works fine on both my mid-spec machines so far, never crashed yet (fingers crossed). A clean well maintained machine always helps aswell.

If you can afford it - go with the latest (PCIe)

Processors is a matter of ones own opinion, I have one of each in my machines and have no complaints about either, I just buy the best my (little) money can buy at the time.

Have you made sure that the correct device is selected within the TS Sound Devices?

Go to: Settings/Options/Sound Devices ....

Could be a broken card, I had a Power Clor 9800 Pro a couple of months ago and it kept crashing my machine after a few mins playing in a Source game (HL2), playing anything else was fine. I returned the card and got a 6600GT instead.

I think my 9800 was over heating - sent it back.
