Go to www.dslreports. They can give you a free security probe of your firewall and a speed and tweak test as well. Any ports not needed will be reported as such.

Update as follows: I rebooted and reset my linksys router settings to factory default. I started the game back up and it registered nicely and took me to the empty server of my choice.
