Actually playing with the patch feels better. Maybe it's just auto suggestion. Hardcore GC play will tell if it's really improving things.

Mh. If have just checked my system and there is a command.com. Looks like yours got replaced by some 16bit binary. Try to search your harddisk if you have multiple command.com / regedit.exe files. Chances are that windows just tries to start the wrong one because it's listed in the path first instea...

erm. read sushis post. you might be downloaded a prerelease patch version that may or may not work.

You can try and have FileMon and RegMon from www.sysinternals.com running while doing the install and look for failed/not found messages in the log but i guess easiest will be to try and bother their support first ;-)

No Temperatures for his Card. The Scan for Artifacts uses the card to it's limits and will break it if the cooling doesn't work well.

As Leroy said only the 9800XT models have the abilty to adjust fan speed and read temps. I wrecked my 9800pro by running it with the cooler not beeing connected and it appears dead. Soo i have a working Arctic Silencer suitable for 9800 Cards with 128mb to sell and the stock cooler also ;-)

Get yourself a real good mainboard and you should be better of with the onboard sound compared to the soundblaster card you have right now. ASUS A8N-SLI Premium is probably a really good choice. I run nvidia chipset with ati graphics without problems and my windows is umm, oh the copy on my notebook is legit!

Check the difference between a 6800 and 7800GT card. If you don't want to spend the extra i'd go for a card with an ATI X800 chipset instead of the nvidia 6800 one.
