I've had BF2 go funny on me as well. I had to manually delete it from the disk, and then go through the registry and remove all references to Battlefield 2.
Then re-installed it.

Thanks guys. I needed to do a clean install of BF2. My computer had somehow lost track of the fact that I had BF2 insalled, even though it was there.
