Sochi Bear is sad

Russia lost to Finland in men's hockey in the olympics today, and the Sochi bear mascot apparently was so distraught over the loss (knocking Russia out of medal contention) that he sat there, head in his paws, for over an hour in Bolshoy arena.

A sad day for bears and sports mascots everywhere.

this was well after the game had ended. The game was absolutely packed full, tons of flags and such everywhere.

So I guess Putin's going to kick everyone out of Sochi since his beloved hockey team lost.

He's probably sad because the KGB is gonna assassinate him for not cheering the team on hard enough.

I would hope not, Russia's team had horrible coaching that had no idea what to do with the NHL star players they had. Ovechkin and Malkin, 2 star offensive talents, were basically told to play defensively (which they in general aren't good at) and looked down upon by the KHL (Eastern Europe's NHL) coaching staff who basically just hate the NHL.

When Russia eventually pulled their goalie, apparently Malkin had to convince the coach to do it, which is pretty embarrassing considering the first goalie wasn't playing too well.

The semifinals games are going to be great though. USA vs Canada, Sweden vs Finland, all powerhouse teams at the olympics every year. Can't wait for Friday!

I watched the game and what I could see Malkin and Ovechkin was on the ice almost the entire game = no rest.

USA lost to Canadia too, so although the matchup I wanted to see is happening (USA-Finland), it's in the wrong medal

I think Putin hurt Paul Martin's wrist and gave Tuuka Rask the flu to ensure that they would only fight over the bronze because Russia couldn't even medal, and their 2 losses were to USA and Finland.

patrick kane beat up a cab driver before, personally I never really liked him but to each his own. I do feel bad for Nicklas Backstrom though, kid gets drug tested on wednesday and then told 2 hours before the gold medal game on sunday that he can't play cause he took some allergy medications that he's been taking for years. Pretty awful screw up by the IOC.
