I've been spending the last 9 months making my own life size Volus. As it happens he's finished just in time for N7 Day and I thought I'd share here encase anyone was interested.
He's made out of EVA foam, chicken wire and felt. PIR and tilt sensors tell him when to talk (with lines from all Volus from all three Mass Effects) via an Arduino. His mouth lights flash as he talks and he occasionally blinks. All in all, he was pretty fun to make. Plus I learnt the Dutch for glue (lijm) and Velcro/hook and loop tape (klittenband), so there's that
The Volus are a species from the Mass Effect games.
It doesn't do much else. Each time you turn it on it assumes a different character from the game, so one time it may be Barla Von, another time Dorlan and so on.
