All the time especially if that kill would have saved my tank. And I have to say the T.V missile dud is the worst.

Diving into the seine river always gets me. You would think the water would lessen the impact or something..

From the heights in BF3, maaaaybe.

The surface tension of water will basically create a concrete-like impact if you're falling from high enough (think of a belly-flop into the pool... ouch)

if you drop straight the maximum would be breaking the legs.
and definitely not from the seine bridge.

and how come pilots crushing headon into the water survives? 8O

If im not wrong the jump has to be from 25 meters or more to feel like concrete.

well, a soldier carries lots of equipment, not to mention the protective panels in vests, so getting in the water would probably dorwn if he jumped off a bridge like that, ofc in RL he'd just unsnap the equipmnet and swim away, but BF3 is maybe simplifying the whole thing and you die.....or jst BF3 sux.

Little tip regarding falls from high positions: if it´s possible to land on a curve surface you wont damage yourselves as you just would slide or bounce safely.
Ex: bottom part from lamp post or the borders of the stairs on Sein.

Not to sink your boat, but you can't just "unsnap" your gear off to avoid drowning. This is why swim tests are mandated for Infantry units in most, if not all, first & second world armies. Still, armour makes things a pain in the ass, even just a combat uniform and a tac vest makes swimming a challenge. Throw on 30lbs for something like IOTV or IMTV and then another 26lbs from an FN-MAG...well lets just say you're either 1) Tall, 2) really naturally bouyant, or 3) really close to shore.

About the only thing we can unsnap easily/quickly is our 24hr/72hr packs, snap on each shoulder strap and one on the belt lets you drop it pretty damned fast, which is meant to be used for ambush situations.
