Joining server problem(resolved)

Post by Ash2Dust »

Yesterday I had multiple disconnects, crashes, lockups entering the game and etc. While I was going to blame it on the heat, its still happened this morning when all was cold.

Anyways I went thru and installed the latest drivers for everything. Blasted all the dust out of the case, checked fans were spinning. Still an issue. Then I headed over to evenbalance.com and see that the day before my problems, a new version of PB was released.

Just a heads up incase others are having connecting to server issues that started yesterday. I've submitting a trouble ticket as I have no problem connecting to non-PB servers.

Next time I'll start troubleshooting with connecting to a non-PB server and see if that helps.

I had probs on Tuesday. Played the first hour or so no problem, then my system kept locking up and freezing, after multi-ple reboots and retries I gave up. Tried another server same issue, however single player and other games worked fine :( I'll have to try again and see what happens.

Maybe this is the same problem im having. I tried playing on Tuesday but BF2 would freeze up for a second then crawl to like 2 fps. Single players works fine as long as the issue hasn't happened yet after a restart. It seems to slow my whole computer down though. I went to play Counter-Strike after BF2 crapped out on me and CS had the same problem, and my ping was over 100ms then it should be. At the time of the first problem i had changed nothing on my computer. I reinstalled BF2 during the NABO and still had the same problem. Since then i've got new video card and BIOS drivers. Played a short game and seemed to work fine but not long enough to confirm nothing was wrong.

http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

download, install, run, and choose BF2.

It downloaded some new file (not sure what), which helped me.

I traced a power off problem to a failed UPS (hopefully just a bad battery).

Now hopefully my problems will be just normal EA/Dice QC.

I would have guessed PB issues right off. It always seems to be high on the list when dealing with logon problems.
