Round and round we go CD-KEYprob [RESOLVED]

Does it ever end? I fixed my hard drive issue, and then reinstalled BF2, but now its aving issues again. I install, run the 1.21 patch (Full) and right at the end I get an error showing a program crashed, with the name bearing the term cdkey or similar. As soon as I clock close, the patch indicates it finished successfully. I open BF2, load my account, double click a server.....and CTD. Wash, rinse, repeat.
I look at the registry entries for BF2, and there is (mysteriously) NO cd-key registry entry. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled once with no luck. Any ideas?

A little unconventional but....
how about re-install then patch up incrimentally ala 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.21
slow and sure?? Doesn't make sense, but so doesn't your issue too.

Or can you un-patch then patch again? These are just shots in the dark.
Try only if you feel your spinning wheels and going nowhere.

Another uninstall, delete any leftover keys, reinstall fixed it. Wonderful. Now I can kill monkeys tonight.
