Re: Keep on getting disconnected

Some old routers perform poorly when more than 1 computer uses it at the same time. I prefer hardwire over wireless because neighbors, phones, wireless mouse have caused problems for me in the past.
With hardwire I would expect 1ms rather than the 3ms (37-99ms in the first ping is way to high) you're getting. Things that push the ping up past 1ms is router crappy (or is pushed beyond its capabilities by other users) your computer is having issues (infection, etc). Or if someone else on your connection is using p2p (bittorrent, etc) and doing unattended heavy downloads or uploads, that can ruin your ping. Keep an eye on your router lights to see if something is continously talking to it. Make sure your computer is the only activity blinking when testing.
I wouldnt expect you to lose connection to a BF3 server unless your internet bandwidth was maxed out. Just crappy play.
Since ur newly exploring ping, 1000 milliseconds = 1 second. 100ms = 1/10 of a second. Youre measuring travel time of a packet to get somewhere and come back.

Thats your router, first hop. Way too high.37 ms 99 ms 99 ms 192.168.1.254
Thats your 2nd hop, could be your ISP or your modem depending on configuration. Either way the ping is better on the second hop and it has to travel thru the first. I would consider that a decent ping if its your ISP. You may be looking at a crappy router.26 ms 33 ms 23 ms 217.32.141.131
