How come the "Upload Avatar from my machine" is currently disabled? Any work-arounds?

Your avatar reflects what army you belong to and what rank you are. i.e Operation:X or Stonies Bandits.

Also if you have donated or not.

We've never been able to upload avatars, even before we had ABC and all this automatic avatar stuff.
