Green-Grey Menu Screen [resolved---kinda]

Just when I think I have solved all my problems getting BF2 installed I run into a new wall.
What has me beating my head up against the wall right now is after the loading screens finish and my menu screen comes up all I can see is a uniform green-grey colored screen. The funny part is that the game is running and the GIU is still active, I just can't see it. This is evident by randomly clicking on spots I know menu buttons exit and getting the game to react. But since I can not see what I am doing I am not able to navigate the menu properly so I can load the game but dang if I can play it.
This is where it gets really strange. I installed BF1942 yesterday and have the exact same problem with it as well.
My system is:
Windows XP Pro
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego core
Abit ULI-8
2Gb of DDR400 PC3200 Ram
Nvidia 6800GS 256 mb running the latest drivers
Any ideas and suggestions are welcome. I sure as heck can't play till I get this figured out.

I would try an earlier driver.
You have refresh rates currently locked?

I rolled back the driver to one that I know worked with BF2 and got the same thing

Except for the screen being this uniform color, everything else is normal. The game loads fine and all the loading movies are visable. If I alt-tab out of the screen I have no issues. I am running duel screens and removed one of them and got no change. When I am running the second screen this output is just fine and is not affected. This is the strangest thing, especially since both of my Battlefield games are doing the exact same thing.
I have also tried adjusted the gamma, color spectrum and brightness with no effect on the screen

Well, I guess you simply overdid your No_Wall_hack
Stupid ideas first: PB ist updated?

do you see the headlines of the menues, if you do I think I have that also once in a while. I am able to overcome that effect by rebooting my system - which doesn't seem to do the trick for you.
I checked some German help forums but couldn't find anything regarding your prob.
maybe installing the 1.4 patch will do the trick, but I somewhat doubt that since it also concerns your BF42.

How about reinstalling your activeX version?

So you can see everything fine on the second screen? If so then switch which screen is primary within the nvidia properties.
If you are using the clone feature and have monitor Sony X and NEC Y listed, choose NEC Y and Sony X instead. I've seen this issue when playing videos in WMP. The menu of BF2 is playing a movie in the background. Also you will lose significant FPS rendering two monitors during the game. Is your primary screen an LCD with specific native modes?
Another possibility is to choose another res that your monitor supports in the Video.con file under your profile folder in My docs/battlefield2. Selective a res and refresh you know works with that monitor.
VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x960@60Hz
Also try uninstalling Nvidia video drivers from the control panel rather than roll back.

Thanks for the suggestion Timtif. Right now I am beating my head against the screen and still getting no where. I am really confused, I installed the BF2142 beta and still get the same damn screen as BF1942 and BF2 when the menu screen loads.

Try totally disconnecting the second display and removing it in properties, then restarting. Try after that.

green rather than black screen would point at a dual display issue.

After spending hours sifting through the forums that Timtif sent me a link to, I tried Planky's suggestion and pulled the plug on the second monitor from my video card and rebooted and still no joy when I loaded battlefield.
Becuase I know that my BF2 worked with my Dual Screen set up on the drivers I had before I reformated my HDD and re-installed Windows I decided to just start from scratch. Since my problems started with this install, maybe it was time to re-evaluate the installation.
So again I reformated my HDD and reinstalled Windows. This time to be on the safe side I left the second monitor unplugged and installed Windows, then my nvidia driver and then finally BF2 and the 1.4 patch.
Started up BF2 and BAM, it was working. Installed BF1942 and BAM, it was working. Installed the BF2142 BETA and BAM it worked as well. Everything that has been driving me absolutely nuts for the last week is now working and I am not sure why. It may have been a second monitor but then I have been using two monitors for several years and this is the first time it has done this.
I still haven't plugged the second monitor in yet. Tonight I was so happy that I got it working that I immediately re-installed TS and hopped online with Madcow, Bush, Von Krieg and a few others to test out the BF2142 BETA. I will be plugging it back in tomorrow and I will let you know what happens.
I want to say thanks to all who made an attempt to assist me while trying to figure out what was wrong.
THANKS GUYS
