Global Conflict

Hello guys,

Started for the first time to day and we tested some maps. Very nice. But all my weapons are locked??
Any body now why??

Either you are a newb (<100 global points) or you have come across the common EA no-unlock-on-server bug. The usual fix is then: leave the server and rejoin.

I've had it happen on servers randomly before, if you exit the game and sign back in it should work *fingers crossed*

Some technical background:

When you connect to a server which allows global unlocks (default for ranked servers and can't be changed, changeable with unranked servers) the game server is asking gamespy for the unlocks you have on your account. If gamespy servers are toooooo busy (or something else goes wrong) and the game server doesn't receive an answer to it's question in a timely manner you will end up without unlocks on the server. Only chance to change this. Quit Bf2. Restart, Login, Reconnect and hope it's working now.

When gayspy servers dont respond, you will usually show up as a private on the server no matter how many points you have.

I had unlokcs on euro as well, just thought we where playing with them...

OK, I tried it yesterday ceveral times. But it did not work...
I will try again Saterday, we wil see.
Oh and in bf2 normal i got 15006 points Gunnery Sergaent, still a little more then 100 points, yes....

To avoid confusion servers are setup to allow global unlocks but not global rank. So everyone should have his/her personal unlocks but everyone will be a private.

This is currently the case on the euro server but not the NA server.

Add that to the fact that unlocks are just plain stupid, and tada! You have a lot of reasons to be grumpy!

I want to play Poe2 with... Vanilla and Special Forces (with personal unlocks) " got 13 out of 24 votes.

You must have been one of the minuscule minority (11 of 24) who voted against the unlocks in a vote where there were only two options:
"POE, SF, vanilla with unlocks" or "POE, SF, vanilla without unlocks".
It certainly would be frustrating if a near half of the voters got aced out of what they wanted because the rule was not '2/3 needed to pass' or somesuch.
It certainly would seem unfair if there was a third choice which drew a couple votes away from the main two and if the third choice had not been there those votes would have gone to the barely second place vote to make a win.
It certainly would be unfair if the vote for unlocks or not was combined with including POE or not as these are two separate issues.

People had a chance to vote and took it. Calling their decision stupid is equally stupid for me.
