Pings don't show in my server browser. Refreshing doesn't help. I just get - instead. Does anyone else have this problem?

If you have a router try forwarding these ports:

Port: 80 TCP
Port: 18121 TCP
Port: 18126 TCP
Port: 18126 UDP
Port: 13505 TCP

Windows 7? Right click on the bfbc2 icon and click "Run as administrator".

Tried right click - run as admin - no change
Tried port forwarding as suggested by Bush - no change
Tried port forwarding after setting static ip:

port : 80 both
Port : 18390 both
Port : 18395 both
Port : 13505 both

No difference

Tried bush's ports and settings after static ip set

No difference.

Weird thing is my son is on the same home network with a very similar computer setup. He just installed BC2 and his ping shows up? this is what alerted me to it as we were looking for a server to play on. We run through the same network switch into the same router. the only difference is that I'm allowed to dl porn (not that i do) and he isn't - but really this time that isn't the problem.

2 more things to try: unhook everyone except me, and 2 change my network adaptor/card.

Unhooked from the network and tried direct through the modem - no change.
Switched to another network adapter - no change.

Updated game??? mm no idea, but can still play with others. Like you Hills I just thought it would be fixed on the next patch, but didn't realize that this wasn't a problem for others.

Try to run the BFBC2Updater.exe in your BC2 folder. Even if the game isnt the newest version your are able to play with others on all servers. However, after I did the update the columns in the server browser were not broken as they used to before.

That only runs the patcher as admin, not the actual game. To run the game as administrator you need to go into the install directory and find BFBC2Updater.exe and BFBC2Game.exe. Right click the exe file and select properties. Go to compatibility mode and check "Run this program as an administrator". Do it for both exe's and then next time you start the game it'll run in admin mode. See if that solves your problems.

You're right. Specifically BFBC2Game.exe for this issue. That should take care of it.
If not, then any software firewall should be looked at.

As for forwarding port 80 entirely to one computer, other computers may have issues browsing the web if you do that.

The only reason I say you need to run the updater as admin as well is if you don't and try to launch the game it will fail as the launcher has insufficient permission to launch the game.

I hate it when I have to ask what seems like a dumb question, but after looking around for at least 20 mins I can't find those files at all. windows 7. Steam version of game.

...Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield Bad Company 2

If you know where your Steam folder is that's how to get to BC2.
