BF3 patch issues

Post by Ash2Dust »

Just got disconnected from BF3 and battlelog, restarted Origin and it said I needed to install the game... Installing something. Now it seems to be stuck on 100%. NVM it finished and battlelog wont run.

Battlelog back up. Wont run BF3, tells me I need to patch BF3. Think I got screwed when the game made me install again while battlelog was down.
Only option I saw readily available was to uninstall. Did that. Clicked install. Now its downloading 11GB...

Sigh .... if I think of Steam that simply installed everything automatically in the background and left you to simply run the game again next time ... Sigh ...

Keep us posted if you get it to work - for once I am glad I am sitting here in the office.

[EDIT]just found this in the battlelog forums:
yes, origin is failed and digusting. if youre stuck on their splash screen do this:

In origin go to MY GAMES
Go to the gear icon, and hit the drop down menu
Select REFRESH GAMES

you should now start downloading the patch. peice of crap battlelog doesnt download it for you. awesome fail
EDIT Nr. 2: Looking at the Battlelogforums there are lots of issues with the current patch.

This thread features some work arounds: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/fo ... 8523432/1/

Feel free to post, should you have any problems and how you solved them.

Patch Notes wrote:A detailed look at Squad refinements

Today's PC client patch features numerous tweaks to Squad functionality and is part of our ongoing efforts to make it easier to play with friends and Platoon mates. These changes will also be implemented for consoles when we release the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 updates shortly. Stay tuned for the exact date of the console updates.

First, we need to look at how joining with Squads and Platoons affects the balance of teams. Initially, servers are commanded to equal out each side, so joining with friends can impact that balance while joining with Platoons further hinders this. As a result we have made some adjustments to the in-game Squad management screen.

For PC, you are now able to highlight the various Squads and select which one you wish to join by selecting a Squad and then clicking the Join Squad button. Please note that the Squad Privacy option still allows 2 man Squads which, during 64 player sessions, can lead to players with no squad position –- the number of people with no Squads will be shown at the bottom of the Squad selection list.
Why do they think that this is a good idea? Why can't they just let us have as many squads as we like (perhaps a limit of say 16)? It's beyond stupid playing a team game such as this and not being able to join a squad since some people have passworded theirs with fewer than 4 players.

The only reason I can think of is that having more squads is a programming/memory issue - which it shouldn't be.

I think the issue is that the game puts players into squads automatically. If you had to join a squad manually, the squad cap wouldnt be a problem.

I'm kinda happy with the patch notes, but I wish there had been some tweaks to the F2000, A91 and M249. The reduced damage from PANPAD and less knockaround by AA is nice, too. Now if only the joystick support would actually work with my Saitek stick.

I updated my Realtek sound drivers to R2.66
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dow ... Down=false

updated PunkBuster again.
http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

Checked but no new Beta drivers for Nvidia
www.nvidia.com

Then I went to bed, figured it was better I didnt touch BF3 until EA/Dice sorted their end out first. Status this morning showed 15.4 GB installed. Battlelog seems happy now. Rebooting for my audio driver update.

Same here.
And patched or not patched, I still have to join a server twice because BF3 crashes the first time...

There are still some glaring issues within the netcode that I don't think will be getting fixed any time soon - if ever. A lot of instant deaths from guns with a high rate of fire, and a lot of times where I score hit after hit and get no kills.

Maybe having more squads would lead to GUI issues (ie: can't show all squads on the screen at one time). An issue that would be more troublesome on a console, I'd guess.

My 50 cent ... love me for it ... i couldn't take anything else ;)

OS: Win 7 X64 - AMD X6 on M4N98TD EVO board, Nvidia Chipset, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia 570 GTX, SB Titanium Fatality Pro

Issues after the Nov 22nd Patch:

1. Unable to connect to Multiplayer or Co-Op Game

Salvation:
Open TCP and UDP ports as listed below and uninstall Nvidia Network Access Manager, also force BF3 to end via Task Manager if stuck on "Connecting ..." for more than a beer and a half..
TCP: 9988, 20000-20100, 22990, 17502, 42127
UDP: 3659, 14000-14016, 22990-23006, 25200-25300
Source: http://www.tobias-hartmann.net/2011/10/ ... orwarding/

2. Game will crash/BSOD/CTD/PC reboot after 45 minutes to an hour of gameplay, mostly on Multiplayer Servers.

Salvation:
First, reviewed all of this stuff found here:
http://crashfixes.com/battlefield-3-bf3 ... ins-crash/
then,
ran game in windowed mode (Fullscreen OFF in Options/Video - Apply fullscreen resolution).
When it crashed, an error message showed up, reflecting on DirectX issues and GPU being put out of service.
Now ...
As we are in windowed mode, we will Alt-Tab to the desktop and restart the game, that should be the end of it.
I assume, Win 7 adjusted some settings, similiar to the graphics warning if an application takes up to much resources.
BF3 runs stable now, on Ultra Video settings and War Tape Sounds ... teh she-it :)

not what you understand.
