BF3 stuck on Joining Server & Joining Soldier

Okay,

I spent about an hour last night trying to fix this and now I'm spending half the battleday trying to fix this.

The battlelog tab gets stuck on "Joining Server" and never goes to "initializing"

I've tried ending the Origin process in task manager, editting the registry, repairing install, and everything possibly conceivable and it just does not work.

Can anyone help me out?

Well, I spent the last 4 hours trying to fix this. I give up and won't return to BF3 for a while unless someone knows a way to get this to work.

1) try closing the origin process, then logout of battlelog, log in, and try to join a server
2) change browser.

I've tried everything, including this. Still no good.

It might be because I upgraded to Win8. Ugh. No BF3 for me until this gets fixed. Oh, well. Good thing we're going on a 2 week break..

I have a long list of troubleshooting tips back at home from trying to get BF3 to play nice. I'm headed back for Christmas so can post them late this week if you haven't fixed it by then. Not saying they will work but they may be helpful.

This seems like a PB issue. Follow these steps:

1. Run cleanup.exe in from C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3\__Installer\
2. Install PB from C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3\__Installer\punkbuster\redist
3. Add BF3 to it and update.
4. Reboot and run BF3.

If that fails then do a re-install, but keep the files before reinstalling.

1. Make a copy of you BF3 folder.
2. Remove BF3 and Origin, and reboot.
3. Install Origin and download BF3 up to 1% mark.
4. Stop download and exit Origin.
5. Now copy the older files in to the new Origin Games/Battlefield 3/ folder.
6. Start origin and now the downloader should read all files and just install the game.
7. Run the pb file to check for both the A and B files. If any tests fail, follow the first set of instructions in this post to re-install PB.

Good luck!

Late reply, but I heard BF3 works really bad in Win8 at this point. FPS drops alot from Win7 for some people, maybe just bad drivers but I would wait a bit longer before going to Win8, at least for gaming.
Win7 only takes about 8 minutes to install from usb-drive if you have and SSD, then make it dual boot with Win8 if you really want it.

writing it in case it might save someone from doing this mistake.
why are you willingly being a laboratory animal for MS to run tests on ?
on the same day they launched windows Vista, they announced there are 5,000 known bugs in it.
i don't know how they can launch something so f* up (and the bad thing its becoming more and more common), but why the hell would you buy such a broken software?

since the operating system has to work with every software and hardware, there are so many different things to consider. there are always problems at the start.

my advice: wait a year or a bit more, and install it only after the release of Service Pack 1, which should fix major and common problems. i wouldn't install any MS OS before SP1 is out.

It looks like the new battelog update sorta fixed my problem.

@Necromancer: I didn't buy the software. I got a copy from Microsoft and just thought it would be fun to install. It's not that I'm "volunteering" to be a guinea pig. I just genuinely wanted to try the next thing. It's not like they brainwashed me to use W8.

It doesn't work bad but Win7 is slightly better. I had Win8 installed less than a week. Win7 is the best OS to date imo and I have been an XP fan for very long. So if you have Win7 there is not need to go with 8.

even worse, they motivate you to be a guinea pig by giving you a free copy.
i wouldn't install it simply because i know its gonna cause tons of trouble with software i use on daily bases.
if, for some reason, i would want to try it, i'd set up a dual boot or something.

I'm not sure why you're so against my using of W8. I installed W7 the day it was released and was fine. I'm using W8 right now and have no problems with it besides Battlefield 3 not loading properly. YOU might not feel the need to install it b/c it will have "problems" but I don't have an issue with it and quite enjoy the new OS.

Now, stop calling me a guinea pig just b/c I like using the new software. It's unnecessary.

I had the same problem a while ago, it took me a few tries before I could finally join a server. I simply changed my web browser and everything works fine now.

Altough I'm not sure if changing my web browser was the solution, maybe it was just fixed by itself.

The same thing keeps happening to me and I just have to clear my browser cache every time.
