Do you need all the basic badges at the time of promotion to Master Sergeant/First Sergeant? Im already a Master Sergeant and just got my last basic badge that i needed but no promotion. Some other badges are veteran and even one expert badge.

I think you needed them BEFORE becoming Master Sgt. It's too late now, bummer.
All basic badges before 20,000 = 1st SGT , then SgtMajor, 2nd Lt
if not Master Sgt, then MasterGunny, 2nd Lt

This is how I understand things also.

You better start with a new account and make sure you get all the badges in time next time.

Why start over? Since BF2 got rid of CSM of the Army, there's no point.
After promotion to 2nd Lt. you won't know the difference, will you?

Charger is right of cause, by the time you would have regained all these points and medals you should at least very close to the next rank so it does make sense to continue indeed.

If you get all you badges before getting to Master Gunnery Seargent you will get SgtMajor. I got the last badge I neede and now it says next promotion SGT Major not Master Gunnery Sgt.
