SB X-Fi Problems

I recently bought a Sound Blaster X-Fi sound card. I installed it and it works fine except when I try to change the hardware/software option in the audio section to Creative X-Fi the game crashes to desktop when i hit apply.
I searched the battlefield 2 support and didnt find anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially if you have an x-fi and your setting works.

Make sure you X-Fi is set for game mode and not entertainment or anything.

Sound cards are not worth the trouble. Take it back and get a good speakers or a better headset.
You will only be freeing up about 0.5% of your cpu's capacity and you will be using 5-10% more ram. Total wast of money and time.

Hum, from what I saw, the Xfi have integrated RAM so it dont use your main ram, no?
With my integrated audio codec I cannot get a good quality sounds in game (Puting EAX) without a big lose of performance, while with a audio card I can. And there is actually a big difference in the sound with and without EAX...

Depends which X-Fi you get. The lowest model doesn't have the "X-Ram". Im happy with my purchase of the X-Fi card. Although, i do have some badass speakers so im sure that helps. Either way X-Fi + Z5500 = kick ass sound - $$$.

Well i got it working somehow.
I have it set to X-fi with high audio settings and EAX checked. The sound quality is very good, especially on the machine guns. The clarity is much better and I dont notice any change in performance. But I bought an ATI x850 and a new 19" flat screen with 700 brightness and 4ms response.
BF2 looks and sounds so sweet now. I cant stop playing it. I was playing karkand night and I felt like I really was off fighting in the Mid East. (no i wasnt drinking).

You need to set it to Ultra High to get the benefits of the "X-Ram". You should get better sound with no performance drop using Ultra High. That is of course if you have the card with the Ram

I just looked to see which one had the x-ram. Mine does not
But I'm not upset since mine was $99 and the X-Fi Fatility with the ram is well over $250.
Are you supposed to enable the 24 bit crystalizer if you're mainly gaming?
