if I have the full patch, and just got SF, and already installed the patch, should I get the incremental and install that after sf or install the full after the sf install?

puh.. here is my wild guess: you are safe when you install the full patch after SF.. yeah. do that.

After installing vanilla and/or SF, run/install the latest patch.

In the past after installing SF you had to reinstall whatever the patest patch is/was. I think it tells you when you are installing SF that it is resetting to original version.

whats been happening to me is that after i patched to 1.3 and i tried
to play SF it told me to revert to the correct version...which i have
already...but for me, my fix was i played a couple of single-player
missions, then tried to join a internet server and it worked without
incident...so far that is....

on a seperate question: once i patch to 1.3, can i reapply an older
patch like 1.22(go back in time if you will) without having to
reinstall the game from scratch.?

Even if the 1.22 allowed you to...

Most likely the 1.3 patch altered files that the 1.22 patch wont. So you would have a mixure.

If you want to attempt play on 1.22 and 1.3 servers, you'll need to rename your BF2 folder (such as BF2_13) and then re-install and patch up to 1.22. When you want to play 1.3 you might be able rename the 1.22 BF2 (such as BF2_122) and then rename the BF2_13 folder to BF2. You might have to also edit the registry to reflect the version also.
