ram timings

Post by Dax_inside »

Hi guys

If my ram timings should be 2-3-3-6, what do they refer to? i.e which one is which in bios?

im hoping this is the main cause of my BF2 problems.

No matter what your timings, ramming is not allowed in GC with aircraft.

Your RAM comes with certain specs (that you listed) on the RAM itself. Your motherboard will accept certain specs and generally run at the speeds listed on the RAM starting with the crappist common denominator.

What are you trying to accomplish with what specs?

You usally don't want to force those modes but have your bios decide on them. Ram Timings don't make a difference. If you have problems try setting the values to higher ones. From 2 to 3 e.g. and see if it helps you get rid of your stability problems. Try http://www.memtest.org/ to check your ram. Be sure to run the tests overnight.

ok, ive just taken a look at my bios settings and they r as follows:

flexibility option: disabled
TRAS: 6T
TRP: 2T
TRCD: 3T
TRRD: 3T
TRC: AUTO
MA TIMINGS: 1T
BURST LENGTH: 4 BEATS
MEMORY CLOCK: 200Mhz (DDR400)

my system specs r:
athlon 64 4000+
Asrock 939 dualSata2 MoBo
Radeon 256Mb X850XT (AGP - 6.5 ati drivers)
2 gigs Corsair Twin XMS PC 3200 (2-3-3-6)
OS: windows pro 64 bit edition (trial version fully updated)

if anyone can think of any reason why im having such a problem with BF2 then please post, no matter how silly.

EDIT: the reason im suspecting RAM is because i read that bf2 can crash alot due to RAM on another forum. ill check out that ram test above.

64 bit is very unstable stay with 32bit

i know iv'e tryed it many of the drivers for 64 bit are full of bugs.

because they were in a rush to get them ready for the new 64 bit.

that mostley they cause your PC to crash.

flipping switch back to 32 bit? ffs, takes bloody ages to do all that.

im not going to give up yet.

i ran memtest and after 40 mins i had a staggering 5120 errors! so i changed the MA timings from 1T to 2T and ran it again. after 40 mins i didnt have a single error. im going to reinstal bf2 again to see if that sorts it out.

if that doesnt work then i guess ill switch back to 32 bit as i cant tell the difference between 32 and 64 anyway. its just a pain in the arse to reformat.

Try setting the MA Timing to 2. Having it set to 1 makes it very likely to encounter ram problems.

Edit: Ah crap, too late  .
