The list at the bottom of this page comprises the 'Votable Forum Members' of GC. By making a donation of at least $20 USD these 'members' have reserved the right to promote, participate and vote on all decisions that affect Battleday 'game play rules' for a minimum period of three months. This group also includes present and past 'Senate' members, and other members that have contributed recognizable time and energy to the growth and goodwill of =GC=.
When we argue about whether there should be gameplay rules for or against actions like 'jihad (C4)jeeps' or 'heli spawn camping', or even 'All Chat' during battles etc, its is this group that decides the intent, wording and outcome of their makeup.
They are also consulted on other decisions that affect the culture and makeup of =GC= and the rulesets under which we play. These decisions are not binding but must be taken into account by the Executive Senate and the Tournament Admins. Examples of such a consultation would be whether to introduce a radical change in the Campaign System, whether to introduce a mod that is proving popular or to seek feedback on a server change.
For many though this isn't the main reason they donate. They donate because they enjoy the =GC= experience and support the concept of free on-line gaming. What the hell, its no biggie, 3 mins on-line and $20 gets you a big huggie pm from meif thats what you're really after.
Others don't donate because they can't, and others don't because they simply don't think about it, don't have access to paypal or don't feel at home here yet.
I'm putting up this post just to remind you that in the real world, or at least in the consumptive first world that we live in, things have to be paid for eventually by someone, and its those that pay for them that usually dictate the final product that is presented.
Finally this is also a big thank you to those that do donate and make it possible for this place to survive week to week and month to month.
